Members participate in activities that reinforce the skills and knowledge they are learning in school. Programs feature five major components: Homework help and tutoring, high yield learning and leisure activities, parent and adult involvement, collaboration with schools, and incentives and recognition.

Special activities from the Boys and Girls Club’s national program Project Learn, are held on a weekly and/or monthly basis. Project Learn includes high-yield learning activities that will use all learning sources available at the Club.

CL&P Power Hour

Members can get help with their homework, receive tutoring, and get help with research weekday afternoons from 3:00 - 5:00. After they have done their homework they can participate in other Club activities including ....

The Lions Club Technology Center (PowerUP/Gateway) (Project Connect) (Microsoft)

During 2002, the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden received grants from PowerUP/Gateway for 10 new computers, server software and networking capabilities (making the total number of computers 20), software from Microsoft, and instructional programs from Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The total amount of all the grant upgrades was over $80,000. The center is staffed every day from 2:30 - 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. It is available to Power Hour students daily for homework and research. All members have access to the center through special programs and flexible hours for research, word processing, and printing.

Internet Scavenger Hunt

On Tuesday Afternoons members can challenge their internet detective skills as they try to find the answers to 10 questions themed around the seasons, holidays and other famous events.

The Meriden Library at the Club

Sponsored by the Meriden Rotary Club, the Rotary Satellite Branch of the Meriden Public Library is open Monday through Friday from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. for educational research or pleasure reading by the children. Library staff is available daily to assist children with research or school work. Special programs are offered periodically throughout the year. Children can access the resources of the Meriden Public Library without leaving the Boys & Girls Club.
