John D. Shaw High School Basketball League

Separate leagues for boys & girls in grades 9 through 12 are run during October & November. Two divisions are formed, JV, grades 9 & 10, and Varsity, grades 11 & 12). Games will be held on week nights. Teams are coached by adults with the emphasis on recreation, skill improvement and exercise. Sign-ups are in mid September, with games beginning in early October.

Fred Biestek Boys Instructional Basketball League

Instructional team sessions begin in early December. Teams meet once per week with the first few sessions devoted to learning and practicing basic skills. As the season progresses more time is spent playing scrimmages. At the end of the season a few informal games are played where teamwork and skill development are stressed. (Ages 8 - 9 as of Jan.1)

Cuno Boys Basketball League

An organized and coached league for boys ages 10 - 13 as of January 1. Practices start in November and games get under way around December 1. League play finishes around mid - March with a single elimination tournament. Registration begins in late September and runs through mid-October. New players must attend a screenig, held in late October to determine their current skill level.

South Meriden Co-ed Cuno Basketball League

Similar to the Cuno and Record Journal Leagues this program is held at Hanover School and Israel Putnam Schools. (For boys & girls ages 8 - 13 as of January 1). Registration is held during the first week in October at Hanover School.

Record Journal Girls Basketball League

An organized and coached league for girls ages 8 - 13 as of January 1. Screenings, to determine which division a girl belongs in (Instructional, JV or Varsity) will be held in late October and practices will start in November. The games get under way around December 1. League play finishes up around March and is followed by a post-season single elimination championship tournament. Registration begins in late September and runs through mid-October.

Iroquois Indoor Soccer Program

An indoor program, held in the lower gym, for youths ages 6 - 14 (cannot be in 9th grade). Emphasis will be on teaching basic skills, dribbling, passing, reciving and shooting. Sessions begin around the first week of January and continue in to early March. Depending on registration either a practice/pick-up style or intra-mural league format will be used. Registration is held the week after Thanksgiving.

Roger King Soccer League

An outdoor, in-town league for youths ages 6 - 14 (players cannot be in 9th grade). Practices begin in early August except for Clinical (6 & 7 yr. olds) which begins their sessions in late August. Games start around the first day of school. League play finishes in mid - October and is followed by a tournament for the older divisons. Registration is held in the middle of May. Separate boys and girls leagues are formed for all but the 6 and 7 year old (Clinical) Division.

Yankee Energy Volleyball League

A co-ed league for youths in grades 6 - 8. Registration is held the first week in December. Practices start after the first of the year and games begin a few weeks later. Play finishes in March with a single elimination championship tournament.

ALL SPORTS LEAGUES have a fee of $30.
All league participants must be or become members.
