Charles F. Cuno Camp

The Charles F. Cuno Camp, a state licensed day camp for boys ages 6-13, offers many activities to keep boys busy during the Summer. Swimming, arts & crafts, archery, air-rifle, group games (basketball, touch football, wiffle ball, etc.) and many other activities are run under the supervision of an all adult staff on our 16 acre site located in the North end of Meriden, CT.

Camp operates in 2 week sessions for 8 weeks each summer usually starting the first full week after school ends. The camp day begins at 8:30 when campers board a bus at the club for the 2 mile ride to Camp. They then head up to the flag pole for opening ceremonies then head off in groups to begin the days activities. Each group swims twice each day, has arts & crafts each day and fills in the remaining time with various games and other activities. Archery is offered for the two oldest groups and each group gets to shot air rifle. At the end of the camp day the campers return to the flag pole for closing ceremonies, hop on the bus and return to the Club around 3:00.

Campers are broken up in to groups by their age, Hawks (6 & 7), Mohigans (8 & 9), Sioux (10 & 11) and Eagles (12 & 13). Once youths get to 14 years they can enter the junior counselor program. Many teens have returned to camp and have volunteered more than 200 hrs. in a single summer.

Each group has an adult counselor and several teenage junior counselors to supervise and run activities. Three additional adult full time staff members are also on hand to help supervise. At least one staff member maintains certification in water safety (lifeguard), archery, NRA Rifle (air rifle), CPR and first aid.

Registration begins in April and usually fills quickly. Membership is required. Extended hours, as early as 7:30am and as late as 5:00pm, are available for an additional fee.
