Youth of the Year 2010

Casey Camire, a senior attending Orville Platt High School has been chosen as the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden’s 2010 Youth of the Year. This is the Club’s highest honor and is given to a member who has gone above and beyond in his or hers participation and contributions to the club. Casey will compete in a state wide competition involving 15 other Boys & Girls Club’s for State Youth of the Year on April 14th and 15th. 

Casey is the class Valedictorian at Platt, the editor of the school’s newspaper, a member of the student senate, Drum Major of the marching band, a member of the Jazz Band, a chemistry intern, and was elected Secretary of the State for the Youth and Government program. He has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club’s rifle team for ten years and serves as captain of the team. While a member, he has volunteered over 500 hours of community service working with younger members at the Club in several programs and the CUNO Summer Camp.

He will be attending college in the fall and has been accepted at several schools but will make his final decision in April. The Staff at the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden is very proud of Casey Camire and has great hope for his future.
